Say Hello to your new assistant.

October 3, 2024.

Getting things done usually means talking to people. In our super digital world today, we’ve shifted from face-to-face conversations to texting or calling instead. But sometimes, these interactions can feel time-consuming and stressful - especially when you just need to exchange information or complete a quick task but aren't in the right mindset. Over time, we've started to dread doing this. I’ve heard friends grumble about having to reluctantly call a restaurant to find out their hours when they weren’t listed online, getting frustrated over not being able to secure a refund because dealing with customer support felt overwhelming, and even struggling to plan a party because coordinating everything over text is a hassle and making calls takes too much of one's attention. It made me realize there has to be a better way.

I wanted to solve this problem and find a way to save everyone time by having someone properly represent themselves in different conversations. This is why I built Mitra.

Now, you can finally offload the tough and time consuming task of talking to people to Mitra. Today, Mitra talks to people by calling them on the phone but there will be more ways for it to interact with people both online and offline in the future. All you have to do is ask and Mitra will talk to anyone about anything - from asking what someone wants for dinner to haggling an airline refund for you. It does what you ask and can navigate people really well.

I love the app so much because it's just so damn fun to use. I use it to poke fun at friends and I also use it to handle some negotiations for me because I know Mitra, unlike me, will always be in the right headspace for those. Although the technology is advanced enough to where Mitra sounds very human-like and the experience of having an assistant can truly be encapsulated in this product, it is still pretty early so definitely don't go around having it call your boss to help you get an extra sick day. And please, always talk to your mom yourself. Mitra is meant to open up a new communication channel between you and the outside world by introducing to you an AI assistant that is intelligent enough to represent you in various conversations ranging from silly ones to more nuanced, emotional ones. Anyways, I'm super excited to see how people will use it. I have a ton of things planned for the future so stay tuned.
